Women procurators in China number 23,540, and account for 34.9 percent of all the procurators in the country, according to a congress attended by members of the China Women Procurators Association (CWPA) from July 20 to 21 in Chengdu, Southwest China's Sichuan Province.

In most parts of China, women procurators have became the major force in criminal procuratorial departments.

The proportion of women in various procuratorial talent pools has been continuously increasing, and many female procurators have stood out in various competitions.

Under the leadership of the CWPA, brand activities featuring the protection of juveniles' rights and law publicity have gained a high reputation nationwide.

Thanks to the support of procuratorial organs at all levels, local women procurators associations and their members have joined hands with schools, women's federations, committees of the Communist Youth League and charity organizations to improve social governance mechanisms.

The congress announced that Liu Hua, Secretary of the Leading Party Members' Group of the Jiangsu Provincial People's Procuratorate was the newly elected president of the CWPA's council.

It also honored nine provincial women procurators associations and released 10 typical cases handled by procuratorial organs on the protection of women and children's rights and interests in 2019.

Founded in 1994, the CWPA celebrates its 25th anniversary this year.
